An electrodeposited battery that produces high-quality metals such as copper at high current density on bipolar electrodes. The bipolar electrode is arranged in series between the cathode and the anode. current shielding around the anode and cathode and each bipolar electrode prevent current bypass. Bubble tubes for a continuous stirring of electrolytes at each surface of the bipolar electrode can effectively use high current density to electrogenerated or electrorefining metals such as copper.
The device may include bipolar electrodes, including non-corrosive metal substrates with reconfigurable metals, such as copper on the anode surface.
Current shielding also prevents electrodeposition in unwanted areas of bipolar electrodes and terminal cathodes.
